i was really glad to see Ares get taken out. Ares is very indicative of Bendis’ Dark Reign over Marvel. To take an F-list character and pull him into the heart of the avengers..just because his best friend wrote the original mini. If anyone other than Oeming had written the Ares mini series Ares would have never gotten out of the box with Terror Inc, Devil Slayer, Foolkiller etc.
Plus, i dont think anyone even remembers that Ares was quesada’s plan to ape Conan, which was really hot at the time

I like Sandler’s old SNL stuff the best.
So, this is a Bendis series and there are no ninjas, magical retcons(No More Mutants), and it’s not 7 issues long?
No way!:)

WOW. I’m glad to see you guys giving Bendis some props.I really liked the issue too, especially the Sentry ripping Ares apart and seeing the other Dark Avengers and media’s reaction.

I was almost going to rush out an op-ed piece on how much I disagree with Elliot in this video but meh lol.

That’s how he reels you in. Then he kidnaps your sister and put her to work in a Ukrainian sweat shop.
Of course I’m kidding. And from what I hear, Bendis is a pretty nice guy. He just needs to be conscious of the messages portrayed in his work.

I’ve met Brian Michael Bendis and I can honestly say he is a genuinely nice guy. He may be guilty of a little sensationalistic sizzle, but I sincerely doubt he has deep seeded aggression toward women issues.

In Big Daddy, comedy with Adam Sandler, he said “she’s my sugar mama” and the old homeless dude was like “I gotta get me one of those.” came out years before Batman begins.
I really thought I could think of another movie, but atm I can’t but I’m sure I’ve heard it another time too… its just one of those common lines… but yeah there’s one.
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
That’s cuz you’re sexist.
Elliott
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
Bendis has proven he can rip both male and female characters in half. I still don’t understand the “sexist” argument.
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
Ares on the Dark Avengers was like Wolverine on the New Avengers…underused and pretty much superfluous. Although Ares did have 2 better moments in his tenure on the DA than Wolvie ever had on NA.

We haven’t even gotten to the good parts yet. Wait and see.

Okay…name ‘em. Cuz you see..HE DOES IT ALL THE TIME.
But name another movie where that line was used and I’ll give it a pass.
Elliott
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
I know what your getting at, but truthfully I’m sure that particular line have been used in more movies than Bendis has probably seen. Its not specific enough to claim ownership, now if he said something like “A reporter died in NYC tonight, somebody knows…” then yeah
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
the art was good. yeah sentry’s fighting style was like manga alot. i dont think thats the old school armor cuz marvel showed the “new armor” off already. i dont even think its stark cuz it was like ver vuague. jarvis coulda said stark is there can yoiu give him the armor. yeah i had the same question about the mighty team but there gonna fight the thunderbolts and ultron during the siege
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
Shit, what do we have to do to get that kind of attention?
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
But where was his head. It looked so damn ridiculous.
March 5th, 2010 at 6:07 am
Yeah, what’s that quote about good artists copy and great artists steal? By that yardstick, Bendis is a fucking Picasso.

Plus the event ends sooner. Another bonus.
